ARCHITECTURE / ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES

Build for observable, reliable payment states.

Integration architecture is only as good as its security boundaries, error handling and reconciliation. We start with a documented flow, then validate each dependency.

REFERENCE FLOW / ILLUSTRATIVE / NOT A LIVE SYSTEM
01 / COMMERCEMerchant storefrontPlatform and checkout context
→
02 / PAYMENTApproved providerHosted/tokenised entry where required
→
03 / CONFIRMATIONVerified eventAuthenticated webhook + idempotency
→
04 / OPERATIONSOrder & settlementSync + reconciliation

The right payment flow depends on your checkout platform, merchant agreement and payment provider. Custom routing is considered only where technically and contractually permitted.

NON-NEGOTIABLE DESIGN RULES

Less guesswork. More control.

01Safety

Idempotent payment states

Avoid double capture and duplicate order updates through verified event handling.

02Governance

Provider-aware architecture

No hidden MIDs, undisclosed processing or undocumented transaction distribution.

03Security

Restricted credentials

Use provider-hosted components, separated secrets, scoped permissions and minimised card-data exposure.

04Visibility

Auditable incidents

Capture technical errors and state changes in logs suitable for operational review.

SHOPIFY COMPATIBILITY

Platform limitations are part of the design.

Native Shopify checkout is not an unrestricted integration surface. Solutions may involve approved payment apps, checkout extensibility or separate architectures, subject to platform rules.

Technical gate

Before implementation we verify provider approval, Shopify plan, allowed integration type, tokenisation, 3DS/SCA responsibilities, refund path and order state sync.
